CITY OF TAMPERE AWARDED FOR ANTI-RACISM ACTIVISM

The Advisory Board for Ethnic Relations (Secretariat at the Ministry of the Interior of Finland) has just this morning, at the annual so called Cities and Communities Market, given recognition and an award to the City of Tampere for their 0-tolerance and activism against racism and measures that enhance participation and education of migrant youth. The Ceremony took place on 11/09/2104 at a seminar, where a Finnish Official for the European Parliament gave a briefing on Junckers 10 – point plan. The term “Burden-Sharing” will be among the key words on the Commission agenda related to migration policies.

Anu Riila, chair of the Eurocities Migration & Integration Working Group, congratulated the City of Tampere for the award on behalf of Eurocities and noted their active participation on integration/migration dialogue at international level as well.

The city of Tampere took part to the ImpleMentoring project as a mentor to Lublin on the topic of enhacing public perception of migration and diversity.
